Trumpet

Victor  Pires began his trumpet studies at the Guri Project with Devanildo  Balmant in his homeland São Paulo, Brazil, later earning his bachelor’s  degree in trumpet performance from the University of Campinas, studying  with Dr. Paulo Ronqui.

At  university Pires performed in music festivals with several ensembles,  including the Piracicaba Symphony Orchestra and the Mozarteum Symphony  Orchestras throughout Brazil.


In  pursuit of a master’s degree in trumpet performance at Georgia State  University, Pires relocated to America in 2021, where he studied with  Dr. Alex Freund. Pires distinguished himself in national and  international competitions, winning First Prize in the Orchestral Excerpts Division at the International Trumpet Guild Competition in 2022 and Third Prize in the Graduate Solo Division at the National Trumpet Competition in 2023.

Victor  Pires is presently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in  trumpet performance at the University of Georgia, under Philip Smith.  Pires has extraordinary ability in the field of classical music as a  classically trained trumpet player whose career demonstrates sustained  national and international acclaim through elite orchestral performance,  distinguished collaborations, and recognized artistic excellence. While  pursuing his doctorate Pires serves as a Section Trumpet with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, Second Assistant Principal Trumpet with Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, the Augusta Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphoria.


Pires'  continued collaboration with established orchestral institutions is  clear evidence of his distinguished standing in the field. Beyond  technical excellence, Victor Pires brings a remarkable level of  musicality and professionalism to every project. Conductors and fellow  musicians value his ability to integrate seamlessly into an ensemble  while also delivering confident, expressive performances when featured.  Pires' contributions elevate the overall artistic quality of the  orchestra and enhance the success of each production.

Born in Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil, Victor Pires and his spouse now make the United States home.
