Organ

Trey Clegg is an acclaimed solo concert organist who made his European debut in 2003 with recitals across Germany, culminating at the historic Schlosskirche in Wittenberg. Over the past two decades, he has performed solo organ concerts throughout Europe, Russia, the Caribbean, and in 62 U.S. cities, completing eight international solo tours across three continents. He has also toured extensively as a collaborative pianist  for professional opera singers.


In 2016, Trey Clegg founded the Southeast’s first Multicultural Chorus.  Comprised of gifted, versatile vocalists, The Trey Clegg Singers and The  Trey Clegg Chamber Singers have performed at the Spoleto Festival USA and the Highlands Chamber Music Festival; the 2022 Interfaith Service during the inauguration of Andre Dickens; and the Mayor’s first State of the City Breakfast at the Georgia World Congress Center.


In 2022, The Trey Clegg Singers also performed for the 90th birthday celebration of Andrew Young and at Carnegie Hall alongside the Morehouse College Glee Club, the Wendell P. Whalum Community Chorus, and the Uzee Brown Society of Choraliers under the direction of David Morrow.


Clegg’s performances have aired on National Public Radio, and he has released four internationally distributed organ recordings which sold out at the  Atlanta Symphony Store. In 2022, he performed on the “Mighty Mo” organ at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the  Georgia Legislature. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution praised his  performance, writing that his playing “fills every dark corner of the elegantly gloomy sanctuary… like the soundtrack for the first dawn.”

2018  marked Trey Clegg as choral director of The Colour of Music Festival Chorale, debuting in Houston, Texas and forming  Atlanta's first Professional African American Vocal Ensemble,  The Atlanta  Afro-Classical Chorale, Trey Clegg served fifteen years on the music faculty of Spelman College, ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s top Historically Black College. He later became  Organist and Director of Choirs at First Congregational Church of  Atlanta (UCC).


A  bass-baritone, Clegg performed for twenty-three consecutive seasons with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus, and made  his solo debut with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as the High Priest in  Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.


Trey  graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance (Cum Laude) from Southwest Baptist University in Missouri; the Master of  Sacred Music degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in  Texas; and the Master of Music degree in Organ Performance from the  Emory University School of Music in Atlanta, Georgia.  His organ  teachers have included Susan Baker, Dr. Albert Travis, and Dr. Timothy  Albrecht.  In addition, he taught and performed as the sabbatical  replacement for the University Organist at Emory University during the 2000/2001 academic year.


As a Composer, Trey's organ music is published by Morningstar Music in St. Louis and Fred Bock Music in Los Angeles. Trey has released three organ solo compact discs and one compact disc of organ and trumpet music in collaboration with retired Atlanta Symphony Orchestra trumpet player Larry Black. Trey's organ performances have been heard on Caribbean  National Radio, American National Public Radio, and Atlanta FM 90.1.
