Indra Thomas, known for her lush and warm voice, has performed at the most renowned opera houses and concert halls including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Royal Albert Hall, and Carnegie Hall. In addition to the United States, England and Italy, Thomas has appeared in France, Germany and Spain and sung with preeminent orchestras the New York Philharmonic, London Symphony, and Leipzig’s Gewandhaus Orchestra, and leading ensembles in Paris, Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands, Japan, Finland, South Korea, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Boston, Cleveland, and Detroit. Indra 's festival appearances include the Bregenz Festspiele in Austria, Chorégies d’Orange in France, and the Proms Summer Festival in London.

Indra Thomas's screen credits include "The Upside" and Academy Award-winning film "Driving Miss Daisy." Thomas received an Emmy nomination for her performance of the “Porgy and Bess Suite” on the New Year’s Eve Broadcast Live from Lincoln Center; a Grammy nomination for Michael Tippett’s 'A Child of Our Time" with the London Symphony Orchestra, and numerous Off-Broadway nominations for the opera Intimate Apparel. Indra performed the leading role in the world premier of "Steele Roots" produced by Atlanta Opera's 96-Hour Opera Festival. She is also the recipient of the Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas earned her BM from Shorter College and an Artistic Diploma from the acclaimed Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Indra Thomas is currently Artist in Residence in Voice at Berry College in Rome, Georgia - USA.

Celebrating her sixteenth (16th) season of professional vocal career based in Atlanta GA, USA, Mezzo-soprano Maria McDaniel is a house favorite principal and concert artist with prestigious The Atlanta Opera. McDaniel’s principal recent roles include Jade Boucher in Dead Man Walking, Myrtis in Cold Sassy Tree, Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Flora in La Traviata, Zulma in L’Italiana in Algeri, and Giovanna in Rigoletto; in addition to being a member of the renowned Atlanta Opera Chorus for four seasons appearing regularly in private concerts and donor events. Maria McDaniel was a Studio and Apprentice Artist during two seasons of the nationally recognized Chautauqua Opera and Orchestra in New York. McDaniel's recent concert engagements include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and numerous sacred, holiday, and operatic concerts with regional symphony orchestras and churches throughout the Southeast.

 

As an acclaimed recitalist, Maria McDaniel has traveled the country performing opera arias, art songs, cabaret songs, and musical theater selections sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs and Opera North Carolina. Maria's international appearances include opera, theater, and concerts in Italy, Germany, Austria, and Beijing, China.

 

Mezzo-soprano Maria McDaniel is consistently acclaimed for her vibrant personality, versatile repertoire, expressive passion, flexible virtuosity, and rich vocal presence as a natural showstopper and singing actress with vocal competition prizes which include the Irene Dalis Voice Competition with Opera San Jose, Winner of Women’s Voice Young Artist Division National Federation of Music Clubs, Grand Prize Winner American Traditions Competition, and Southeastern Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

 

Maria founded Atlanta Academy of Vocal Arts, in 2012, with highly successful students at both semi-professional and professional levels in multiple areas of the music industry, including Broadway, opera, choral and vocal music education. In demand as a frequent masterclass clinician and guest artist throughout Atlanta, McDaniel recently returned to her alma mater, Georgia State University, as an Affiliate Artist in Voice.

Maria Clark, soprano is the First Prize Winner recipient of the 2008 Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition at Carnegie Hall where judges hailed her voice as “dazzling” and “richly expressive.” Cosmo Buono, executive director of Carnegie Hall stated regarding Clark, “One seldom finds a voice capable of such beauty across a variety of idioms. A voice this much at home in opera, lieder, and spirituals is very rare. She is truly, both artistically and vocally, a triumph.”

 

Clark appeared with the Atlanta Opera ensembles production of Carmen; participated in Atlanta Opera and Opera Comique’s collaborative production of Porgy & Bess; and toured France,Spain, and Luxembourg performing as the Strawberry Woman. Clark made her debut with FOSBO-Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica de Bogotá Colombia, and performed as a soloist with the Ludwig Symphony Orchestra and the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra. Maria appeared with the North Carolina Opera as Odessa Clay in "Approaching Ali." Clark performed the role of Miriam from Nathaniel Dett’s "The Ordering of Moses" with the New England Repertory Orchestra. Maria Clark collaborated with composer and pianist Maria Thompson Corley, to release a CD of contemporary African American spirituals, titled "Soul Sanctuary." Clark continues to be a featured artist in Atlanta Opera's 96-Hour Opera Festival and performed the leading role of the world premier of "Steele Roots."

 

Composer, DJ Sparr composed a concert orchestral world premiere of the song cycle written for Maria Clark titled “Message for Your Son” that premiered with the Chicago Composers Orchestra. Maria also performed a tour of her “Soul Sanctuary” cd in Pennsylvania, and as a regularly featured soprano soloist with The Trey Clegg Singers, performed Handel’s, Messiah. Maria Clark has also been a regular performer for the annual Diamond Awards at Morehouse College. Clark is ia Master Clinician for vocal workshops and masterclasses for “The Art of the African American Spiritual” project at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and the public school system of Oshkosh. Clark has conducted vocal workshops with various choral organizations across Georgia holding general vocal masterclasses and workshops at Northeastern University in Oklahoma, the University of North Georgia, Spelman College of Georgia, and Georgia College and State University.

 

Forthcoming, Maria Clark will perform the role of Madame LaRoche in the opera LaRoche, composed by Dr. Sharon Willis, with the Americolor Opera organization, and the role of Clothilde, in the opera, A Bayou Legend, composed by William Grant Still, with Opera Vermont.

 

Maria Clark has a BM degree from Manhattan School of Music and an

MM degree from Georgia State University. She is currently a vocal instructor at Emory University in Atlanta and Oxford Georgia.
