Nicholas Wheeler

Composer

Nicholas  Emanuel Wheeler was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised in Stone  Mountain, Georgia. He studied music education and composition at  Columbus State University. His primary teachers include Manuel Diaz,  Maureen Gallagher, and Dr. Alfred Cohen. He is pursuing a Masters in  Music Composition at Georgia State University. His primary instructor is  Dr. Robert Scott Thompson.


Nicholas'  composition style is best described as distinctly classical, with  cinematic and modern twists. He has composed for chamber ensembles,  choir, film, and symphony orchestra.


He made  is American composer debut with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra in April  2017 with the premiere of his Moonlight Waltz from his symphonic suite A  Pirate's Journal. He will make his international debut at the 2021 Sao  Paulo Contemporary Composers Festival with the premiere of his Piano  Concerto in E Minor.


An educator for over 10 years, Nicholas teaches string orchestra, piano, and guitar at Mount Pisgah Christian School.
